Why is ClearOne, Inc. (CLRO) stock moving?

CLRO is a micro-cap shell-like company with a market value of roughly $9–15 million. It has sold its legacy conferencing business and is pursuing a reverse merger with Cortigent, a Vivani Medical subsidiary. Nasdaq staff issued a delisting determination for failing the $2.5 million stockholders' equity rule. The company is seeking a hearing, which stays the delisting, but there is no assurance it will regain compliance. The merger also needs to clear Nasdaq's initial listing requirements. Price action is extremely erratic. The stock sat near $1.7–1.9 on Oct 19–22, then spiked to $3.25 on Oct 23 on heavy volume. It reached about $6 on Oct 27, fell to $3.41 on Oct 30, and rebounded about 66% to $5.65 on Nov 2 on roughly 489k shares. It is down about 13% pre-market today, near $4.91. There is no clear catalyst in the news for these moves, which look driven by speculation and thin float. Fundamentals are poor and TipRanks notes AI-model downgrades. Delisting and dilution risk remains high, so downside risk is large even though upside squeezes are possible.
