Why is Duolingo (DUOL) stock moving?

Duolingo reported Q3 after the close on Nov 3. Revenue was $309M, up 13.7% and about $6M above consensus. Daily active users grew 29%, accelerating from 23% in Q2. Management raised its full-year outlook and guided Q4 revenue above Street estimates. GAAP EPS of $0.54 slightly missed. Shares fell 5.4% to $128.00 on Nov 3 on roughly double normal volume ahead of the report. They were then quoted about 11-14% higher in extended and premarket trading, near $143-146. That would retrace most of the recent slide: the stock fell from about $149 in mid-October and is down roughly 51% over one year. Management says it will gradually shift emphasis toward bookings growth in 2027, which could ease the worry that user growth isn't being monetized. Risks remain: lawsuits over past user-growth and AI disclosures, a Hold-leaning analyst consensus, high volatility, and a history of post-earnings gains fading. Valuation looks modest at about 15x trailing earnings, and the company holds net cash of about $1B.
