Why is Alphabet (Google) (GOOGL) stock moving?

Alphabet is stabilising after its worst day on record. The stock fell from $324.89 to $283.82 on Oct 29 on volume of about 140M shares, after an EPS miss ($2.12 vs $3.02 expected). Free cash flow turned negative and management guided to much higher 2027 capex. Revenue grew 25% and cloud revenue rose 103%. Shares held a $277-$283 closing range for three sessions, above the 52-week low of $270.70, and volume faded. On Nov 4 the stock rose 3.2% to $288.93 on 51.6M shares in a broad hyperscaler rally after the midterms, with an intraday high of $296.49. Early Nov 5 quotes show it giving back part of that gain, with one source showing about $282.57 (-2.2%). The consensus target of about $400 implies large upside, and forward P/E is about 17-21x depending on the source. Against that, the bounce relies on market-wide flows rather than company-specific news. Negative free cash flow, dilution worries, employee buyouts, class-action suits and the unresolved debate over AI returns weigh on sentiment. The Nasdaq 100 remains about 9% below its Oct 6 peak.
