Why is Apple Inc. (AAPL) stock moving?

Apple has held up well in a sharp tech selloff. After fiscal Q4 results on Nov 2 (revenue $114.48B, up 12%; EPS $2.10 vs $1.99 expected), the stock fell on December-quarter gross margin guidance of 45%-46%, down from 47.9%. Memory costs drive the margin pressure, and the CEO called the pricing unprecedented. It then jumped 5.31% to a record close of $349.51 on Nov 4 on 89.6M shares, about 2x the average volume. The rally came as investors rotated away from AI-heavy hardware names and toward Apple's lower AI spending, and after the midterm elections cleared up political uncertainty. On Nov 5 it slipped 1.53% to $344.17 while the Nasdaq fell 5.52% and Nvidia fell about 9%. That is relative strength, but it also shows the safe-haven trade has limits. Nov 6 data shows a modest gain of about 0.28% to $345.12 on partial volume. The stock is up 24.4% year to date, the only Magnificent Seven name ahead of the S&P 500. Valuation is full at 36-39x earnings, and the average analyst target of $343.51 is roughly at the current price. Other items include the $7.5B bond sale, cuts to employee AI budgets, and the Nov 12 ex-dividend date. The near-term range is roughly $332-$355, with volatility high.
