Why is Gartner (IT) stock moving?

Gartner beat Q3 expectations and raised full-year guidance, but the stock fell sharply anyway. It closed at $204.22 on Nov 3, down from $235.26, on volume of about 60.7K, roughly double the recent daily average. Investors focused on contract value growth of 2.5%, with management saying a 4% pace by year-end is unlikely. The stock had also rallied about 27% in the month before earnings, so expectations were high. Fundamentals remain solid: adjusted EPS rose 30%, free cash flow was $275M, and the company bought back $1.7B of stock over the last four quarters. Guidance now calls for adjusted EPS of at least $14.65. Management also cited pressure from the Middle East war and tech layoffs. Several analyst targets sit well below the current price, including Wells Fargo at $175 and Morgan Stanley at $182. The stock bounced slightly to $207.19 on Nov 4 on lower volume. Sentiment is mixed: the earnings and buyback story is good, but growth is slow and the stock reset from its highs.
